Every state provides the social services to its people. Almost every state whether that is welfare in its nature or not include some or more points of social welfare services in its policies and annual plans. And with proper planning and administration, the services are provided to the people who are in the need. Social services can vary from state to state. Some countries prefer to provide institutionalized social services while others prefer to help individuals who are in need.

Every state is responsible for the welfare of the people of its society. A state should adopt that policy or plan which provides the suitable social services to people. There are mainly three settings where the social services are provided.

Social services in casework
Social services in casework setting are provided in many countries all around the world. In this setting people who are facing the problem individually get the benefits from the state. The government provides the services in the field of medicine to the patients, children or any other individual who is mentally disturbed because of his social condition.

Social services in group setting
A state is also responsible for providing the social services in a group setting. Two or more people who are facing the same problem or have some goal to achieve, the government helps them to achieve that goal or solve their problem collectively. Government provide the required resources to people and guide them how to get the job done. Especially social group workers or leaders help them and guide the way. Providing the facility of family counseling to the people is one example of social services in a group setting

Social services in community development
Social services provided for the community development mostly effect a large number of people in a community rather than benefiting one or two individuals. A plan or goal is achieved with the collaboration of the community people and they involve in the whole process of development. The government can also institutionalize the services to benefit the whole community. The contribution of people in community development builds the trusting relationship with government and development work is done in a more organized way.

These are some of the settings that need the attention of government and policies should be incorporated according to that.
